About DUROLUB DL

DUROLUB DL consists of ultra-high molecular weight polymers and synthetic, temperature-stable base oils. DUROLUB DL is introduced into the free bearing space and subjected to heat treatment. The heat applied hardens the compound into a solid, porous matrix structure.

A small gap is created between the raceways and rolling elements. The oil is retained by the surface tension in the polymer matrix.

Function of conventional grease lubrication

With grease lubrication, 25-30% of the bearing clearance is usually filled with grease. This is rolled over by the rolling elements during operation, and the excess grease is displaced from the raceways.

Excessive amounts of grease generate high friction. Condensation can form in the unfilled bearing spaces due to temperature fluctuations.

Function DUROLUB DL Lubrication

When lubricating with DUROLUB DL, the entire free space of the bearing is filled. During operation of the bearing, the DUROLUB DL compound rotates together with the bearing cage and the rolling elements. By sliding along the rolling elements and the raceway, lubricant is supplied as required and at the right point.

As the temperature rises, the oil release increases because the thermal expansion of the polymer matrix is lower than that of the base oil and the viscosity of the oil decreases.

When stationary, the polymer matrix absorbs excess base oil. The rolling bearing always has an optimum lubricating film under all operating conditions.

Advantages of DUROLUB DL lubrication

  • Longer bearing service life; up to 5 x more oil in the bearing compared to grease-lubricated bearings, in combination with maximum lubrication efficiency, results in a practically maintenance-free solution.
  • No condensation; condensation forms in the bearing when the temperature fluctuates. With conventional grease lubrication, the condensation mixes with the grease and drastically reduces its lubricity (emulsification of water / oil). The result is premature bearing failure. DUROLUB DL reliably prevents condensation in the bearing, even with large temperature fluctuations.
  • Sealing effect; DUROLUB DL is filled in the entire free space of the bearing, only the smallest amounts of dust or moisture can penetrate into the bearing.
  • Improved effect of integrated seals; DUROLUB DL supports integrated seals against external forces, such as those typically encountered when cleaning with high-pressure equipment
  • Hardly any dripping of oil; even with vertically installed bearings, dripping is almost completely prevented
  • Cost reduction; relubrication during operation can often be omitted, expensive devices are not necessary. DUROLUB DL lubricated bearings are practically maintenance-free
  • Improved environmental protection; contamination of the environment by lubricants is almost completely avoided
  • Improved food safety; contamination is drastically reduced due to the greatly reduced leakage of oil – DUROLUB DL is NSF H1 / InS / Halal / Kosher approved for incidental food contact

Availability / delivery time

The bearings can also be provided by the customer for filling.

The filling production process usually takes 5–7 working days, in urgent cases orders can be brought forward.

Which bearings can be filled

In principle, all bearings can be filled with the appropriate clearance. The larger this clearance, the more efficient the lubrication with DUROLUB DL. Rolling bearings with large, voluminous brass cages are less suitable than those with steel or plastic cages.

Devices are required for axial bearings / tapered roller bearings in order to carry out filling.

Delivery status / labelling / EAN code

For all third-party base products, we do not make any changes to the original markings on either the bearing or the box. You will receive the bearing back in its original packaging, which will be labelled with a DUROLUB sticker.
